Boat trip and guided tour of the Hermitage of Santa Caterina del Sasso
It is an evocative experience on Lake Maggiore that allows you to reach the Hermitage of Santa Caterina del Sasso by boat starting from the Ispra pier.
Upon arrival, participants will be accompanied by a guide on a tour of the famous monumental complex, discovering its history, architecture, and the events that have made it one of the most fascinating places on Lake Maggiore.
The Hermitage of Santa Caterina del Sasso is perched on a rock face overlooking the waters of Lake Maggiore. The ancient monastic complex almost seems to merge with the mountain, offering a scene of extraordinary beauty where nature, history, and spirituality coexist in perfect balance.
Today the Hermitage of Santa Caterina del Sasso is one of the symbols of Lake Maggiore. Participants in the excursion will enjoy the Hermitage by landing directly at the small pier at the foot of the complex, a privileged vantage point that allows them to fully appreciate its exceptional integration into the landscape.
At the end of the visit, the return to Ispra will be independent, using the free shuttle bus service, created as part of the “VareseCultura2030” project.
The shuttle is a 22-seater bus.

Timetables
- 9.30am meeting at the Ispra Infopoint at Via Verbano 208 for check-in
- 10.00 am departure by boat from the Ispra pier
- 10.30 am arrival at the Hermitage of Santa Caterina
- 10.45am Start of a 1-hour guided tour of the Hermitage
- At the end of the visit, there is the possibility of an independent lunch break at the bar-restaurant of the Hermitage of S. Participation fee
- € 10 each (including guided tour and entrance to the Hermitage)
- one-way boat ticket (€ 4) to be purchased directly on board on the day of the visit.
