A walk suitable for everyone to discover Ispra from a different point of view, allowing yourself to be fascinated by its places, its history and the magic of the lake at nightfall.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, August 13, 2026, don’t miss the “Ispra al calar della sera & Gelato” event, a guided tour that will take participants on a discovery of little-known corners of the town, including history, art, nature, and views of Lake Maggiore.<\/p>\n

The meeting is scheduled for 5:00 PM at the Infopoint Ispra (Via Verbano 208), where a path will begin that will slowly move from the lakefront into the heart of the village.<\/p>\n

The walk will begin by following a section of the romantic Passeggiata dell’Amore, overlooking the lake, and then take the evocative Ripa Solitaria, the ancient pedestrian link that connects the lake to the historic center, behind the Parish Church.<\/p>\n

The climb will take participants behind the Church of San Martino, where they will be able to visit what we now know as the Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows, coinciding with the town’s ancient 17th-century church with its fa\u00e7ade facing the lake.<\/p>\n

The complex of the parish church of San Martino is formed by the union of two churches: the older one – which has its fa\u00e7ade facing the lake and dates back to the 17th century – and the new one – which overlooks the square and dates back to the 18th century. The complex is still flanked today by a tall bell tower built around 1680.<\/p>\n

Inside the chapel you can admire the recovered 17th-century frescoes, dedicated to episodes from the life of Saint Anthony the Abbot, the work of Cristoforo Martinola, known as Rocca, a 17th-century Lombard artist.<\/p>\n

The visit will be made even more special by the presence of the parish priest of the church, who will present some ancient sacred vestments recently restored, displayed right inside the chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows.<\/p>\n

A pleasant, refreshing stop is planned at the Il Capriccio ice cream shop to enjoy excellent gelato before continuing on your way.<\/p>\n

The route will then continue through the historic park of Villa Castelli, now home to the Ispra Town Hall, until reaching Monte del Prete, the promontory overlooking the historic center and Lake Maggiore. The hill, approximately 300 meters high, takes its name from the ancient lands belonging to the parish and represents one of the richest places in the area’s history: in fact, the Castle of San Cristoforo and the ancient church of San Crescenzio once stood here.<\/p>\n

Behind the town hall, you will begin to climb, following the path behind, adjacent to the Sala Serra. At the top of the climb, along which you can see the lake, you will find yourself in a clearing to continue towards the \u201cCrocione\u201d, the point from which you can see Ispra and the lake. From here, after discovering curiosities and events related to this charming place, we will descend back towards the historic center and finally back onto the lakeside.<\/p>\n
