Perched on the rock overlooking the Verbano, a place of prayer and spirituality, the Hermitage of Santa Caterina del Sasso is undoubtedly one of the most evocative scenarios of Lake Maggiore. The hermitage is a monastic complex of three buildings dating back to the 12th century. The Blessed Alberto Besozzi of Arolo withdrew to this place for a vow made during a shipwreck. Passed from order to order, today it is governed by a community inspired by the rule of St. Benedict. Paintings and frescoes from the 13th-18th centuries adorn the walls of the Church. On summer evenings, outside the monastery, you can participate in classical music or sacred choral concerts.
